Can Breast Augmentation Surgery Help You?

One of the most common complaints we hear from our patients is they feel uncomfortable in a bathing suit and really insecure sexually.  If you are struggling with these insecurities breast augmentation may be right for you.  Dr. Schoemann and his staff are here to educate and help you with the process.

During the education process and consultation Dr. Schoemann typically will ask for photos of the result you would like to see with your breast augmentation procedure.  We will show you different types of breast implants to choose from and recommend what implant and type of procedure will provide you with the goal you would like to achieve.  We’re committed to educating our patients to help with the decision of size, type, and shape.  It is our belief that an educated patient always makes the best decision, you will never feel pressured or sold on the procedure at our office.

Breast Implant Options;

Today women have many options to choose from when it comes to breast implants.  A decade ago the only option was Saline, now women have the option of saline or silicone, size, shape and texture.  For many, this decision may be a little overwhelming, but with Dr. Schoemann’s and his staff’s guidance you will have nothing to worry about!

Breast Implant Fillings;

Today you have two types of breast implant fillings to choose from, saline or silicone.  The saline implant is designed with a soft outer shell that is filled during the procedure with saline solution.  One of the benefits of saline implants being filled during the procedure, it allows the surgeon to adjust the fill to help correct asymmetry issues.

Silicone implants are prefilled with a safe silicone gel, unlike silicone fill decades ago, the gel filling the implant is gummy bear like in texture if cut open.  So leakage is really a non-issue with today’s silicone implants.  Silicone offers a much more natural feel and volume than Saline and is more often used at our office.  The most common silicone implant used today at our office is the round cohesive silicone implant.

Choosing the Right Size Implant;

Choosing the right size implant is very important part of the process, we will help you make the decision that is best for your body type and size.  It is important to have realistic expectations of what breast augmentation can do for your body type.  Typically we will use implant sizers to help you make the decision.  Many of our patients will have a friend or spouse with them to help decide on the right size, this is totally normal as it is a big decision.

What is Recovery Like?

Breast augmentation recovery is manageable for most, we typically recommend having the procedure done prior to a weekend if you work, as this will give you a few days of down time to rest.  Depending on the type of job you have you can expect to start work again within a week, as long as it is not a physical job.  We also recommend taking about a month off from working out and any other physically strenuous activity, if you have young children refrain from lifting them for a few weeks.
